Meet the DB Brick & Stone Directors

It’s time to meet the team, the people responsible for all your construction needs.

Cameron

Cameron started off with his love for building from his grandparents and father. Cameron spent most weekends and school nights beside his dad watching and learning how to lay floorboard, tile a wall, install a door or even build a retaining wall, to name but a few. At 10 years of age spending his summer holiday ‘helping’ dad build their workshop, which he spent many hours over the next few years tinkering with engines and building anything and everything he could think of out of wood and steel.

His passion for building and how things work soon led him on to a love of all things engineering. After completing his studies in mechanical engineering, Cameron then went on to building and installing granite and marble features in luxury homes, learning that he had an eye for detail and expanded his knowledge of different techniques and use of specialist tools not yet knowing that this would benefit his career in the future. Once establishing the firm with Gareth, Cameron found that although he will never lose his passion for being on the tools, he also loves being at his laptop, creating spreadsheets to keep track of spending or for aiding in the pricing of the next projects, writing future contracts, creating posts and designs for the brand. Even sat here now, writing about himself which seems very peculiar!

Gareth

Chief Bricklaying Extraordinaire – Gareth started out in the building trade as soon as he was strong enough to carry a bucket of mortar! Brought up around no-nonsense old school builders who ingrained the importance of producing quality work no matter how many attempts it took (trust us, Gareth had his fair share of ‘do it again till it’s right!’ moments as a young lad). After his early years of working weekends and summer holidays he went to college to study all aspects of the bricklaying trade. Once he had completed his apprenticeship, he had not only learned every aspect of bricklaying, but also the knowledge and experience of drainage, machine operations and groundwork. Gareth set up his own gang of brickies over the course of the next 10 years mastering his trade. Since establishing DB Brick and Stone Ltd with Cameron, both of whom have gone on to learn more aspects of the building trade as a whole, which enables this team to undertake larger and more complex projects.

Vinnie the German Shepherd

Vinnie is by far the hairiest member of the team (that’s saying something!). He is also the most loved member, and you can definitely see why. Starting work with us at 14 weeks old, he is the happiest and silliest dog ever, nicknamed ‘Doop Doop’ by his mum, Vinnie the German Shepherd can be found on all of our sites wherever his dad is happily watching over all of the work, but never ever helping out!

How it all started...

Cameron and Gareth met as Cameron was leaving school, Gareth only being 2 years older they soon formed a strong friendship, helping each other along the way. Connecting over a love for the gym, spending long sessions after work and college bettering themselves, they’re eventually turned to a love for beer as rings true for so many young men. Cameron decided it was time for a change and joined Gareth on the building site, with their combined knowledge and skills it would be foolish not to make a go for it and set up by themselves, after growing tired of the carelessness of large building companies who cared more about profits than a happy customer. Quality, communication and transparency were not a part of these corporation’s values whereas these qualities will always stand true for DB Brick & Stone Ltd.

It took time and a lot of hard work to get where we are today, but we still hold the same values and wish to further grow!
